How We Accept Your Planned Gift
Twin Cities Public Television has created a separate organization, the Twin Cities PBS Foundation, to hold long-term funds that support the mission of Twin Cities PBS. Its purpose is to receive, hold, and invest contributions from donors who provide estate gifts to us. There are three important advantages to a separate foundation:
- Investment Management – Donors have the assurance that their generous gifts are professionally managed as long-term investments.
- Stewardship – The Foundation Board of Directors provide governance and oversight of Twin Cities PBS’s long-term funds.
- Accountability – As a separate organization, the Twin Cities PBS Foundation files its own IRS return, called a 990, which is a publicly available document. Transfers of funds to Twin Cities PBS – whether the typical 5% annual endowment distribution or additional investments to support innovation and new programming – have oversight by the Twin Cities PBS Foundation Board of Directors.
